NIOS On-Demand Exam for Class 12 is not for fresh students. It is intended solely for failed candidates who appeared for the Class 12th board exams. All the following categories of students are eligible to apply for the Nios on Demand exam Class 12th.
One of the most significant reliefs for students who have failed in class 12th is the Transfer of Credit (TOC) system of the NIOS board. Under TOC in Nios on Demand exam 2026:

To receive a valid Class 12th certificate, a student must pass at least five subjects, including at least one language, with a maximum of two.
Language Subjects available in Nios on-demand exam class 12th are English (302), Hindi (301), and Sanskrit (309)
Science Subjects available for NIOS on-demand exam Class 12th are Mathematics (311), Physics (312), Chemistry (313), Biology (314), and Environmental Science (333). Mass Communication (335) and Data Entry Operations (336). and Introduction to Law (338).
Commerce Subjects available for Nios on-demand exam class 12th are Economics (318), Business Studies (319), Accountancy (320), Mass Communication (335), and Data Entry Operations (336). and Introduction to Law (338).
Arts / Humanities Subjects available for Nios on Demand exam are History (315), Geography (316), Political Science (317), Home Science (321), Psychology (328), Sociology (331), Painting (332), Mass Communication (335), Data Entry Operations (336), and Introduction to Law (338).

In Nios on Demand exams, some subjects include practical exams. These are compulsory and count towards the final marks.
